According to the policy of Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University to establish a unit to be responsible for using databases in government work, in 1997, the Computer Unit was established under the name of Computer Center to provide information services and computer room services for students to fulfill the main mission that must grow alongside the growth of the university.
In 2000, the university assigned the mission to organize training in computer usage, basic internet and various related courses for personnel and students within the university under the Computer Education Quality Assurance Project.
In 2004, the Computer Center changed its name to “Information Technology Center” with offices located in the Wangchan and Talaykaew Computer Center Buildings (Room 102). The work has expanded and increased the number of services provided.
On May 15, 2006, the Information Technology Center moved its unit from Wangchan to the Language and Computer Center Building, Talaykaew (1st and 2nd floors) to support the mission of using technology in the university’s administration and management. Both computer systems and information network systems (Internet) to create the potential for the university’s administration and management of higher education to be more efficient. In addition, the internal Internet network system has been set up between various units to be the same system. Administrators, personnel and students can use the Internet network system to enhance management, teaching and research management at a good and efficient level.
In 2007, the Information Technology Center developed the Voice over IP (VoIP) Internet telephone system for units within the university to use in order to reduce the university’s telephone usage costs. Later, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology announced the Computer Crime Act B.E. 2550, in which the Information Technology Center began developing the network traffic authentication and storage system (iPASSPORT) for use within the university.
In 2017, the Information Technology Center, which is a group of digital technology development that has grown rapidly, along with Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University having missions that are responsible for many areas, whether it is teaching management, academic services, As well as research development
In 2021, according to the resolution of the meeting (3rd time) on the organization structure and the framework of academic staff – support staff Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University for fiscal years 2023 – 2026 (4 years) on Thursday, July 8, 2021, it was agreed that the project to establish an Information Technology Center would change its name to the project to establish a Digital Technology Institute with a faculty-level status. The director of the Information Technology Center Project was assigned to study and compile data on the establishment of departments and review the organization structure. Therefore, the role of the agency was reviewed (with the readiness of the agency), accumulated work experience (personnel have continuously developed themselves), and personnel within the Information Technology Center Project have been continuously developed until they are ready in many aspects and can generate income and reputation for the university.
Therefore, the Information Technology Center Project would like to upgrade the agency to an agency with a faculty-level status. We will lead Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University to become a Digital University by requesting to use the new agency name, the Digital Technology Institute.
